Vulgaritatea Rockului. "It's just noise" |

“Vulgar pantheism is abysmally indiscriminate – or said another way, it is infinitely tolerant. The vulgar pantheist finds room in his universe for the atheist and the witchdoctor as well as the Pope and the rabbi. Professing no one religion, he accepts and rejects them all” Potrivit lui Pattison, romantismul si, implicit, rockul distrug distinctia intre muzica “inalta”, elitista, si muzica populara. Dar pentru asta trebuie sa proclame triumful panteismului si deci dispare sansa oricarei distinctii calitative. Chiar daca fanii incearca aproape in permamenta sa scoata in evidenta tocmai superioritatea rockului in raport cu alte genuri. “And rock is blunt, rude and popular. Rock disdains polite or correct diction and rejects refined theorizing about society and politics. “We are the white crap that talks back”, say the Fall”. Cat priveste valoarea muzicii, Mick Jagger, solistul de la Rolling Stones, a rezumat cel mai bine miscarea: “It’s noise we make, that’s all. You could be kind and call it music”.
